Steven Olgivie was brutally assaulted, and as a result lost an eye, by an absolute scumbag who I hope spends a very, very long time in prison. Thanks to some quick, brave intervention by some bystanders, Olgivie’s life was saved, but I can’t imagine what both he and his family are going through and will go through because of this horrific and senseless attack.
An absolute nightmare, a life devastated. But to Elon Musk, and Tommy Robinson, and Nigel Farage this, of course, was an opportunity, because what else could it be to men like them?

Because you see, the scumbag who viciously attacked Steven Olgivie was from Sudan, so Musk, Robinson, and Farage saw their opportunity to stir up hatred against migrants and people of colour! I can just imagine the immense dissapointment they would feel if it turned out the attacker was white. Indeed, I remember the Anders Brevik attacks, I remember how so many racists were hoping, praying, begging for the attacker to be Muslim, or at at least a person of colour, and I remember their immense, crushing dissapointment when it turned out that Brevik was white.
The attacker, Hadi Alodid, was an assylum seeker from Sudan. A country that is experiencing a horrific genocide, that is barely being covered in the media. And to be clear, NONE of the horrors that Hadi Alodid experienced, in any way justified what he did to Steven Olgivie. But, I just wish there was more concern over the fact that, you know, genocide is happening in the first place, rather than all the worry being over the fact that victims of genocide might want to flee to white countries. Wouldn’t that be better. To want to stop the genocide in the first place? It’s funny and kind of stupid how people who want to stop assylum seekers coming to Britain, or Ireland or other countries, never seem to want to, you know, create a more fair, just, and peaceful world so that assylum seekers don’t need assylum in the first place.
In a just world, Steven Olgivie’s family would be able to spend their time with Steven, and have the time and space to process the horror that has been inflicted on them. But of course, because this isn’t a just world, they had to spend time appealing for calm and sanity as they, like so many others, watched as the streets of Belfast were destroyed. Well it turns out that Steven Olgivie’s family do not support setting fire to houses and vehicles in Belfast in response to the horror that Steven suffered. I’m sure when Musk, Robinson and Farage realize that the family of Steven do not support their rhetoric, they will issue an apology. Any minute now. Musk is about to retract everything he said. Robinson is about to reflect on his actions over the last few days. Farage is about to do a lot of soul searching. Any minute now.

This is what the riots have done. This is what fascists like Musk have stoked up. Two nurses who don’t know if they will be able to continue with their work, of helping people when they need it most. That’s what happened in Belfast.
The Targeting Of Migrants And People Of Colour
In these horrific riots, people of all races faced the horror of their homes being cruelly destroyed. However, this was first and foremost an attack on migrants and people of colour. Lists of addresses have been posted online with claims they are the homes of migrants:
This was not simply a random, unfocused attack on the streets of Belfast. I’m not denying that there weren’t cases where some people were attacked, and some property destroyed, simply because they just happened to be within close proximity to the attackers, but the lists of homes that have been posted online prove that there was an intentionality to all of this. Let’s call this what it was. It was a pogrom. A riot targeting migrants with the aim of intimidating them into leaving Belfast.
Why The Targeting Of Health Care Workers?
This is something I’ve been trying to wrap my head around. Why have these riots involved a distroportionate numbers of health care workers of colour being targeted?:
Nobody, no matter what their job is, deserves to be harrassed, intimidated, threatened or have their homes destroyed, but, I’ve had difficulty figuring out why these mobs would have a particular interest in targeting health care workers. But I think I may have figured it out, and if I’m right, it’s absolutely horrifying.
Health care workers are, quite rightly, seen as a very important part of our community. If you’ve ever gotten sick, if you’ve got a disability, you’ve been grateful for the fact that healthcare workers exist. I think the racists, fascists, and general scum of the Earth out there, have a problem with migrant health care workers, because their occupation is held in very high esteem in the community. We all need them basically. I think there was a deep anger felt by these racist attackers, that highly respected jobs are held by migrants. (This is not to argue that health care workers are paid enough, they’re not, but I think most people hold health care workers in high regard.) I think the anger that these thugs felt that there are black people in professions that are deeply respected is what motivated them to go after the health care workers.
We’re Into Completely Mask Off Fascism
So this is where we are. We’re well past, “I’m not a racist but….”, we’re thousands of miles from, “Some of my best friends are black,” and we’re light years away from, “I don’t mind them as long as they integrate.” Black migrants were targeted, because they are black migrants, and for no other reason. I’m horrified by how much this reminds me of Kristallnacht, or The Night Of Broken Glass, a horrific pogrom carried out against Jewish people in Nazi Germany in 1938:

Some might say it’s inappropriate to compare what happened to migrants in Belfast to what happened to Jewish people during Kristallnacht, but I say, how can we say they’re not similar? Identical, no, of course not. But how can we say there are no parallels between the two? During Kristallnacht, Jewish people were targeted for being Jewish, and during the Belfast riots, black people were targeted for being black. How can we ever hope to defeat fascism if we can’t compare modern day fascism to historical fascist regimes, like, the big one, Nazi Germany?
The world is in a very dangerous place. With Trump, we’ve got a fascist in the White House. Starmer will probably be out of office quite soon, and good riddance, but we do NOT want Farage replacing him. And of course, the world’s first trillionaire is a fascist, who literally did the Nazi salute. Remember when Gates was the richest man in the world, and he had to pretend to be all nice and cuddly, oh look, he gave water to poor people and stuff! Well, we’re well past that. The richest man in all of human history, is using his vast wealth, power and influence to direct co-ordinated attacks against people of colour that would have made any Nazi proud. The mask isn’t just off, the mask is completely burned to a crisp. And if that doesn’t scare you I don’t know what does.
