Are We Supposed To Just Forget That Donald Trump Threatened Genocide Against Iran?

What age do we currently live in? There was the Stone Age, the Iron Age, the Industrial Age. But I’d like to propose a term for the times we currently live in. The Amnesia Age. Our whole society seems to run on an amazing ability to just, forget.

Forget about Gaza. Forget about the Epstein files. And now, forget about the most powerful man in the world unambiguously threatening genocide.

How will future historians document the year 2026? It seems they’ll have a really difficult job. They’ll just have to admit, “We don’t know what happened in this time period, because this entire society came down with a case of collective amnesia.”

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”

This is where we are now. How do you even justify this morally? I’m sure people will try. What about Iran’s atrocious human rights record? Genocide is genocide, it is wrong to commit genocide against ANY people no matter what kind of human rights record their nation has. What about the fact that Iran is blocking vital fuel supplies that the world needs? Well, they were doing that because the United States and Israel attacked their country. What was Iran supposed to do, nothing? So, the reason we are now in a fuel crisis, the reason here in Ireland we are experiencing terrible dread about how we’ll put fuel in vehicles delivering food and medical supplies, the reason we are worrying about how we’ll put fuel in emergency vehicles, is because of Israel and the United States. Would the idea that we have the right to commit genocide against the Israeli people, or the American people, because of the fuel crisis their countries caused, ever be entertained? Of course not, because it would be insane. But apparently it’s quite okay to have an insane opinion when it’s about the Iranian people.

What Happens Now?

I think this whole situation has exposed the fact that the United States is not the superpower it thought it was, and that Trump is not as powerful as he thought he was (that’s assuming he has the ability to, learn valuable lessons and stuff, which is doubtful.) The United States is used to saying jump and the world asking how high. As an Irish person I know this well. Recently we were treated to the sickening sight of our Taoiseach going to visit Trump with a bowl of shamrocks. “Yes sir, how high did you want to me jump? Well that will be quite difficult, what with gravity and all, but for you I will give it a try Mr Trump!”

The funny thing about it is that, if the United States wanted to protect its illusion of having absolute power, the best thing it could have done is, absolutely nothing. If they didn’t attack Iran, their weakness would never have been exposed.

But, because the United States had to go and attack Iran, it’s been revealed for all to see, that Iran has a lot of control over the world’s oil supply.

There was no possible response the United States could make without threatening to further destroy the world economy. If the United States, and Israel, did to Iran, what Israel did to Gaza (with the U.S’s help), how long would it take for the world economy to recover? Months? Years? Decades? For a very long time, the United States has been able to do, whatever it wants. If they had done nothing, they may have been able to maintain the illusion of having unlimited power on the world stage. But, America has overplayed its hand. Their commander in chief has had to enter negotiations with Iran, after threatening to wipe them off the face of the Earth.

The idea that America had absolute power was always an illusion. They have a massive military, they have drones. They even have nuclear weapons. But what the Iran war has proven is that there are countries that they can’t destroy without destroying the whole world economy with them.

Trump, Really, Really, Needs To Go

Surely the fact that he is all over the Epstein Files is enough. Why isn’t the fact that he’s all over the Epstein Files enough? Oh right, because we’re living in the Amnesia Age. So, to everyone who is listening, I implore you, fight that amnesia and remember this! Trump, along with Nehenyahu, started a war that risked a massive global recession, possibly the biggest recession of the 21st century. Don’t forget! Fight the amnesia! Remember! REMEMBER!

Why weren’t accusations of Trump walking in on Miss Teen USA contestants while they were in the dressing room enough to tank his political career?:

It is honestly bizarre that we even got Trump round 1, in 2016, let alone Trump round 2 in 2024. Now, of course, Hilary Clinton is awful, Joe Biden is awful, and Kamala Harris is awful, but, for some reason, there seems to be an uncanny ability to overlook Trump’s awfulness. You can understand him getting in once, as a rare, freak occurrence, but somehow, he was elected twice!

If people don’t care about allegations about inappropriate conduct towards underage girls, yes, I can’t believe I’m living in a universe where I have to entertain the possibility that people don’t care about that. If people don’t care about the fact that he has allowed ICE to turn the U.S streets into a war-zone, again, I can’t believe I’m living in a universe where I have to entertain the possibility that people don’t care about that. If people don’t care about Epstein or Gaza, then, surely the fact that Trump is threatening to send the world economy back to the Stone Age is enough. Fuel shortages affect everyone, everywhere. If anyone out there has no empathy for the many people that Trump has hurt, then, surely you can support an end to Trump’s regime out of naked self interest!

At this point, supporting Trump is the equivalent of supporting a guy who drilled a hole in the front of the ship you are on. Then drilled a hole in all of the lifeboats. Then tore up all the life jackets. To support Trump at this point, is to support something that is bad for everyone, everywhere. Supporting Trump doesn’t just make no moral sense, it makes no pragmatic sense!

Every day that Trump is in power is another threat to the safety and well being, of the entire world. His reign needs to end. At this point, it is not just because of important moral and ethical considerations. His reign needs to end because of basic common sense.
